Zhongmin Zhang, male, Fangcheng, Henan Province, is a professor and Ph.D. supervisor of the Law School of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. He is also a researcher of Environmental Resources and Energy Law Research Center of Tsinghua University, a director of Environmental Resources Law Research Society of China Law Society, and a director of Energy Law Research Society of China Law Society. He received his LL.B. (2001), LL.M. (2004), and J.D. (2008) from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and his LL.M. (2012) from Vermont Law School; he was involved in the establishment of the China Environmental Protection Association (2004-2005); he worked at the Hanjiang Intermediate People's Court in Hubei Province (2009-2010); and he worked at Columbia University (2010-2011) and Columbia University (2011). He was a visiting scholar at Columbia University School of Law (2010-2011) and Vermont Law School (2011-2012). He is mainly engaged in the research of environmental justice and energy law.
He has published monographs such as "Monism to Pluralism: An Empirical Study of Ecological Litigation" and "Energy Contract Theory"; co-authored "Report on the Development of Environmental Justice in China", "Specialization of Environmental Justice: A Survey of the Current Situation and Institutional Reconstruction", "Theory and Practice of Environmental Damage Compensation Law", "Ideal and Reality: The Current Situation of Environmental Tort Disputes and the Construction of Relief Mechanism in China", etc.; co-edited "Introduction to Environmental Law", "Environmental Law", "Principles of Environmental Law", etc. Thesis on environmental law and the practice of environmental tort law, the ideal and reality: the current situation of environmental tort disputes in China and the construction of remedy mechanisms, etc.; co-editor of the textbook Introduction to Environmental Law, Environmental Law, Principles of Environmental Law, etc.; published more than forty papers in Chinese Law, Law, Global Law Review, Legal Science, Legal Business Research, People's Daily· Theory, Chinese Population· Resources and Environment, etc., many of which were reproduced in full by the Chinese Social Science Digest, NPC Reprographic Materials; presided over major projects and youth projects of the National Social Science Foundation. He has conducted more than ten research projects for the Supreme People's Court, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Hubei Provincial Social Science Foundation, etc. He has participated in the drafting and revision of many laws, judicial interpretations, departmental regulations and local legislation. He has made innovations in the field of empirical research on environmental justice and basic theoretical research on energy law, and has been the first to focus on and try to conduct statistics and analysis on environmental adjudication documents, and to propose concepts and analytical frameworks such as energy contract and energy justice.
